Rotterdam Art Calendar
Every day of the year, the Rotterdam Art Calendar presents the work of one artist from Rotterdam. Artists and designers are asked to submit one of their (realized) works. We created this contribution especially for the calendar. It lies within a continuing series of typographical quotes we have in mind (‘Take it Easy’ is another one). The text is a poem, shown in three layers, which comments on the issue of greed in society, and the possible consequences of wanting more than enough. In form it’s a tribute to Dutch design gurus like Wim Crouwel, Jurriaan Schrofer and Karel Martens. The poem reads:
Bigger, better, faster, more
Larger, fatter, vaster, sore
Bitter, sadder, lonely, poor
